The TTC was assisting in a joint project with the Federal Laboratory Consortium 's State and Local Governments Committee and the Technology Transfer Information Center of the National Agricultural Library, Agricultural Research Service, U.S. Department of Agriculture.

 

Objective:

  • to identify technology requirements, i.e. technologies needed for underground utility locating
  • to identify extent of the problem including safety, environmental, and economic factors related to the industry and its employees, and to communities and citizens
  • to describe equipment and/or methods that currently are used to locate underground utilities and explain why the equipment and/or methods need to be improved or replaced
  • to identify technology constraints and specifications and give a thorough description of the industry's requirements for new technology.
