Liner Deformation Measuring System

Status :
Active
Contract Number:
67013
Time Period:
Jun 1996 - present
Principal Investigator :
D. Hall (Previously: W.T. Straughan and L. Guice)

Sponsored by:
  • Insituform Technologies, Inc.

Objectives:
  • to develop a Liner Deformation Measuring System (LDMS) for measurement of the shape of pipe liners during deformation under external loading and during the critical stages of geometric instability formation prior to buckling.
The understanding of this geometric instability formation will aid in the development of bucking design procedures under various pipe conditions. The LDMS used sets of Linear Variable Differential Transformers to monitor the liner displacement along the pipe.
