A state-of-the-art micromanufacturing research and development
facility at Louisiana Tech was developed as part of a $13-million project
funded primarily by the Department of Energy to Louisiana Tech University
and Louisiana State University. The total investment in the building and
equipment is approximately $30 million.
Processes being studied and further developed include micromechanical machinery,
deep x-ray lithography, and deep UV lithography. The facility provides the
capability of building tiny mechanical and electronic systems and makes available
a range of associated electronic and mechanical testing equipment. Over the
coming years, the TTC will pursue use these facilities for developing microsensors
for the see-ahead sensing applications and smart materials development.
