Center for Numerical Simulation and Modeling (CNSM)

The CNSM occupies more than 4,000 square feet, including four large labs and eight offices provided by the University. The Center also has its own computation and visualization equipment for conducting state-of-the-art research, education, and training. Facilities include four labs, a high-performance computing lab, CFD lab, PC lab, and visualization lab in Carson Taylor Hall.

The center offers state-of-the-art simulation capabilities for complex fluid flow problems. It has acquired, for installation in 2000, an Immersadesk Virtual Reality System for visualization of complex systems and data. The TTC also has FLAC3D and ABAQUS software applications available for three-dimensional analysis of geotechnical and general solid mechanics problems. These software allow for a wide range of constitutive material models to be used and large strains and construction sequences to be modeled easily.
