The City of Houston, Public Utilities Division is responsible for the City's public water supply and wastewater systems. The division provides drinking water to homes and businesses as well as untreated water to major contract customers through the Coastal Water Authority. Wastewater is collected throughout the city and treated for safe return to local streams. In meeting the utility needs of the public, the Public Utilities division meets or exceeds all federal and state regulatory standards. The Utility Maintenance Branch is responsible for maintaining 13,990 miles of water distribution and wastewater collection lines. Performs extensive preventive maintenance, system surveillance and technical investigations. |
